There were almost 200 entries this year in Amber Quill’s Heat Wave contest. I’m expecting only a handful of really top quality writing to make it to the final selection.
My writing was good. But was it among the best? I just can’t judge it. I haven’t seen any other entries, and have no basis of comparison.
No matter how much you tell yourself “you did the best you could”, you’ll always know that really, you could have done a little bit better. But if you don’t let go, throw the words out there and let them breath, then you’ll never know what you’ve got locked up in the closet.
Forty four days, and I’ll know for sure.
