My weekend plan was set. I shopped for food, stocked up on kiddie videos, and cleared my desk so I could finish the story I’ve been working on. And what happens?
1 – My family has done nothing but eat for the last four days. I’m out of cereal, bread, peanut butter, soda, lunch meat, canned soup, raman noodles, chicken, hot dogs, frozen pizza, frozen waffles, and oatmeal – all the foods they can / will cook for themselves.
2 – Of the five movies I picked up at the library today, three so far have been too scratched to watch. Including Beauty and the Beast, which my Belle lovin’ daughter has somehow gone four years without ever seeing. I was really looking forward to seeing her happily mesmerized state for a few hours.
3 – My son has been invited to the birthday party of the year, and it’s on Saturday – and across town. Since our town is the largest city (by land mass) in the US, across town means an hour drive each way. Of course I can’t now drop him, come home, write, then go pick him up – I’d have to turn around and leave as soon as I got home.
Well, at least I do have a clean desk!
Now on to plan B – the one where I stay up for hours after everyone else has gone to bed, finishing this. Guess it’s a good thing I’m not out of coffee and tums.
(I think I’m having way too much fun from adding Wiki to my search engine drop down box.)
