Today is packing day, and cleaning day, and a work day all rolled up into one. And a swim day, because Princess missed her swim yesterday and wasn’t letting today go un-wetted. I’m tired, probably from staying up until midnight getting last minute orders processed so I won’t have much work to do next week. But tired is good – I’ll be ready to go to sleep early tonight, and ready to bounce out of bed at 5am to load the kiddies in the car.
I decided sort of last-minute to rent a car for the trip. It’s just over a thousand miles roundtrip to see my sisters, and my car needs a bit of maintenance that I just couldn’t fit into the schedule last week. Now we’re debating whether it’s worth it to do the upcoming major engine work, or better to trade it in for something that doesn’t have 131,000 miles on it. I love my car. I really don’t want to see it go. But it only gets 24-28 mpg, and … well, it’s got 131,000 miles on it. German engineering is a marvelous thing, but it’s going to need pretty consistent upkeep from this point on to keep it on the road. So, something new may be in my near future.
Waiting until last minute to do something about it added one more thing to my morning, but at the last minute my local guy came through and got me a deal. A very big deal it turned out – the only car he got in normally goes for $49 a day plus tax, and I got it for $32 a day plus tax. But it’s not my car that I love, and I’m feeling sad that I may not be roadtripping in *my* car again.
Big sis doesn’t have a high speed ‘net connection at her house, so I’ll likely be offline most of the week. Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
