Hubby’s been out of town since Thursday, and I’m getting a bad case of the lonely’s.
I know just how to cure myself of it though. I volunteered to pick up pizza and take it to the in-laws for dinner at 6:30. By eight I’ll be more than happy to be back in my lonely house.
We’d planned on me taking the kids down to the resort over the weekend now passed and hanging out there for a day or two so we’d at least be in the same hotel-area as hubby (even if he was working 20 hour days on the last big event of the year), but I came down with a nasty case of the ick’s right before he left town, and the four hour drive there and four hour drive back just didn’t sound like fun anymore.
So I stayed home, trying to rescue the pool from monsoon season. Drained more than 8 inches out over three days as the rain kept coming, and finally lost the battle to a middle-of-the-night deluge that brought the water line up to ground level while I was sleeping.
That, my friends, is not a fate I wish on anyone.
It’s taken me three days to bring the pool from mud brown to green, a task made harder by the pump area being too flooded for me to get back there to clean the filter. We’ve been dry rain free for 26 hours now, and I’ve got all fingers and toes crossed that by tomorrow morning I can get back there and do some filter cleaning.
That’s what my world has come to – suggesting dinner with the in laws, and looking forward to cleaning the algae clogged pool filter.
I need a vacation.
