The good – Tor has brought back their free ebooks. “To download these and upcoming freebies, all you have to do is register at Tor.com.” This week has two books I haven’t read yet.
Will Shetterly and Emma Bull are the first married couple to each simultaneously have a novel among the finalists for the World Fantasy Award—Emma’s Territory and Will’s The Gospel of the Knife. In commemoration of this, we’re offering registered Tor.com users free e-book editions of a pair of classics from the Bull and Shetterly backlists—Emma’s War for the Oaks and Will’s Dogland. Check them out here!
Both look fanastic, and I’ve heard Emma Bull in particular talked up in several places lately. So I’m glad to have a chance to give her work a try. I hope Tor continues their free read program – I can’t tell you how many of their authors jumped to my “must buy” list after reading some fantastic books over the summer. The bad – hubby and I both woke up with sore throats, itchy running noses, and the general craptastic feel of a nasty cold. So we got the kids off to school and crawled back in bed. It helped – we’re both at least seven and a half more functional than we were this morning. But I’m aleady looking forward to crawling back into bed tonight. The tasty – I’ve been freezing veggies all summer to make the first pot of fall soup. I had a portion of chicke stock tucked into the freezer as well. And last night I roasted a turkey breast, which we only ate half of. So I’ve got a big pot of turkey veggie soup simmering on the stove now, making the house smell yummy. I think it does anyway; every now and then I sniff and get a teasing glimmer of scent. Who cares that it’s still a week away from autumn, and 87 degrees outside? My pot of soup couldn’t wait for these details.
