The week in my rearview mirror

It’s been a long week. Not long after I posted on Monday, the phone rang. The clinic at Princess’ school, calling to tell me she’d fallen off the monkey bars at school and hurt her wrist, and did I want to come pick her up?

So the week has been busy with dr appointments, a visit to the children’s hospital radiology dept, pediatric orthopedist, pharmacy… yes, she broke her wrist in two places. Eight weeks to the day after her brother broke his. Unfortunately she broke her right wrist, not her left, so she’s had a bit harder of an adjustment, but adjust she has. It has just taken every extra minute I didn’t have this week and swallowed it whole.

So I woke up at 4am today with a throbbing headache. Bad enough that I didn’t want to move, but I also knew if I didn’t get up and take something I’d lay there for hours wishing I could just get to the kitchen for some Excedrin. Forced myself to get up, and an hour later it throb had receded to a dull ache that let me fall back to sleep. Back up a bit before 8, and the throb was just coming back, so I took some Ibuprofen. Which pushed away the pain until a bit ago. I just finally gave in and took some Excedrin Migraine – I didn’t really want to spend the day on the couch, and had hoped to get up to the pumpkin patch for pictures today. So far, I haven’t even made it to the shower.
