I woke up this morning and loaded up my Google Reader while the dog went out to do his thing. That’s how approx 352 days out of the year start here in my world.
Today I looked at my bloated Subscription folder list – a list that, even collapsed, scrolls off the screen – and the “ALL Items – 1000+” message, and instead of feeling inspired to start my day off by skimming through the best my web has to offer, I was frustrated. Do you know what happens after you’ve caught up with 470 feeds and what was probably close to 5000 posts? Unless you’ve used “Mark All Read” what happens is, a bunch more have popped up in your feed. It’s the dragon chasing his tail and never quite catching it.
It was purge time.
I’m down to >gulp< 170 feeds, and 871 items to read. Which is a bit more manageable, but I think there may be a second purge coming tomorrow. We’ll see if 170 feeds feels just about right, or if it is still overwhelming by the end of the day.

Today is the first day of November, and the start of many good days. It is the traditional Celtic day of celebrating Samhain, the ushering in of winter after summer. It is the day after Halloween, so a day to ty to find a way to get all that candy out of the house before it finds its way to my hips. It is the start of NaNoWriMo, a month long novel writing period (National Novel Writing Month). It is to me the start of the buildup to the happiest 5 weeks of my year – Thanksgiving, my birthday, Christmas.
I’ve much real housekeeping to do today, which unfortunately can’t be done from the comfort of my couch the way my morning WebKeeping was. So I’ll leave you with this :
